Promoting Natural Horsemanship

Natural Hoof Care - Barefoot Trimming

Being a student of the Horse I live and work in the dirt.  As the justice system preaches ignorance of the the law is no excuse, the same analogy applies to Horse health, training and hoof care.

My goal is to provide training, education and resources to equine owners.  Beneath a barrage of information lies a simple proven and professionally accepted recipe to develop the - Good Horse. Hoof care from barefoot specialist. A feeding program to include good quality hay, no sugar no starch, vitamin and mineral supplements, good clean iron free water Routine training, exercise, grooming and around the clock turnout.

Horsemanship is a journey without a destination and being a perpetual student in all aspects of the whole Horse and his well being, my passion spans from his heart and soul through proper nutrition, training, saddle fit all the way down to natural hoof care.  I am all about seeking knowledge and adventure with Horses while building his self confidence and maintaining his honor and dignity.

Building confidence and promoting the best possible health is absolutely paramount and is achieved by working the with entire Horse from top to bottom and not against him. It is about allowing him to develop himself by setting him up to win and allowing him to learn from his mistakes. This will develop the - Good Horse.

By applying this solid foundation of working mentally, emotionally and physically through a his mind, body and spirit using feel, timing and balance, true unity between the human and Horse can be achieved.

The definition of this word Natural as applied in Horsemanship and Hoof Care is to describe a positive, progressive, flexible and dynamic way of thinking.  Natural is being receptive to new ideas, concepts, techniques and a willingness to adapt and evolve.

Natural means doing things with your Horse, not to him. Allowing things to happen not making them happen. Natural is understanding you can not train at a shout and expect with a whisper.

Natural essentially requires an unequivocal understanding in the differences between you the hunter and he the hunted, you the predator and he the prey, synonymous with you the human and he the Horse.

Normal on the other hand is resistance to change or an upholding of traditionalism. It is conforming to a standard and is guided by a rigid set of rules. Normal is old school or an attitude of doing things the way they have always been done.

When things are not going very well it may be Normal to get upset however, it is Natural to realize that where frustration began knowledge ended and it's time to - Stop Retreat Regroup then Resume.

You as the human have a choice and your Horse is always the recipient of that choice.

Remember - The worst an honest Horseman can do is make an honest mistake. Set your Horse up to win and always end it on a good note.  Allow as opposed to make and do with rather than do to. This is Horsemanship. !

I believe - “In the end, when you ask your horse to do something, he wants to do it, he likes to do it, he understands how to do it, and he does it” - Ray Hunt

Amen
